Meeting with Nigeria Association of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (NASME)
OUTCOME – MEETING WITH NIGERIAN ASSOCIATION OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (NASME)
The National Association of Unemployed Graduates had a meeting with the Nigeria Association of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (NASME) on Saturday, 15th March, 2014. The meeting started by 5 pm and was championed by the NASME chairperson, in the person of Chief Mrs. A. Adejumo. She commended and lauded our effort in tackling the problems of unemployment. She introduced her organization to the NAUG executives and enunciated what her organization was into.
Mrs. Adejumo informed the NAUG executives of herthat she would like to partner with NAUG in addressing the problems of Unemployment. She requested for the strength capacity of our membership and Ehis Abuya, the National Coordinator told her that Oyo State strength capacity is at 4000, Ogun State at 6000 and Lagos State at 5000. On hearing this, Mrs. Adejumo was happy and requested that we provide her with qualification statistics of our members in other to see the areas the unemployed graduates can be engaged for capacity building and empowerment. From her discussion with the executives, she expressed more on the agricultural sector for the empowerment in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Furthermore, she requested that the executives should be present for the meeting with the commissioner of Industry and the Oyo State secretariat on 18th March 2014 by 12pm. She said the meeting will give us a better platform to talk and present the challenges the association are facing and what we need to move forward. She also said that there will be a meeting with Bank of Industry (BOI) in Lagos State, and different delegates will attend.
She said she will create a slot for one of NAUG representatives. In this regard, Mr. Ehis said we will provide someone from Lagos to attend for the meeting which is scheduled for on 19th – 21st March, 2014. Mrs. Adejumo said there will be an exhibition on 20th March, 2014 and zonal opening meeting.
The executives extensively expressed the Association’s opinion with the aim and objectives guiding the Association in seeking employment and creating jobs for unemployed graduates.
Towards the end of the meeting, introduction was done and Mrs. Adejumo apologized for not doing that earlier, due to the urgency of the matter that was discussed. The meeting concluded with a prayer led by Emeka Ezemenaka the Oyo State coordinator by 6:55 pm.
